Decisions, Decisions – Picking People

Decisions are hard. It’s difficult enough to choose a gym, a stroller for your baby, or a restaurant to celebrate your anniversary. But when you have to choose a trainer to help you achieve your target weight, a babysitter to care for that baby, or the significant other to (hopefully) reach that anniversary milestone, the stakes are even higher. Picking people is one of the hardest things we do, and we have to do it every single day. We want to help.

I partnered with Alan Tuerkheimer to present a FREE webinar on How to Pick People–Lessons from Jury Selection. We both have a great deal of experience in this realm. Alan has a psychology degree, a law degree, and 18 years of experience consulting with lawyers on how to pick juries. His company, Trial Methods, provides lawyers with insight on who to pick and who to strike when they’re picking juries. I, too, have decades of experience with choosing juries. I have a psychology degree, and for over 20 years I’ve been talking to jurors before, during and after trials. Alan and I will share how you can use techniques from jury selection to help YOU pick people in your life.

In this hour long free webinar, we’ll discuss 7 things you can do to help you choose.

1-CHOOSE–Analysis paralysis may be your biggest problem. We’ll help you overcome it.

2-KNOW THE LANGUAGE: Body language is a big part of choosing a jury. You’ll learn what part of the body can give you the most insight (and it’s not the eyes….)

3-AVOID ASSUMPTIONS: You know the saying “when you assume you make an ass out of U and ME? We will stop you from being an ass.

4-ASK QUESTIONS: This is the key to picking people–and to almost everything thing else in life. We’ll help you not only with the questions you want to ask, but HOW to ask the questions. Focus on the HOW will help you pick people well.

5-LISTEN: Asking questions won’t help unless you’re listening to the answers. We’ll even show you how a blindfold can help.

6-CONSIDER PERSPECTIVE: Every lawyer wants a juror who can see life through her client’s eyes.  That begins with considering each potential juror’s perspective. We’ll give you the tips to help this happen.

7-ENVISION THE FUTURE: Your imagination may be the best tool to pick people well. We’ll show you how to use it.

We pick juries, and they change our clients’ lives. During this webinar, we’ll help you pick people. Maybe you’ll change a life or two in the process as well.
